Welcome to NGAM

We still have a little way to go to get NGAM to be all we are planning for it to be, but due in part to the amount of interest we have already had (and also due to the further delay to our plans due to COVID-19), I thought it best to get the ball rolling.

So here we are, the first draft NGAM website. Whilst this certainly won’t be the finished article (we hope to have greater functionality than this current platform can allow) it is somewhere we can start to collate information, offer guidance and even post tutorials for all those interested in aerospace medicine.

So what can you expect from this website? For the initial phase it will serve as a living library of useful information – links to other organisations, notice of upcoming events, a handy list of people to follow on Twitter (!) etc. Over time we hope it will grow to be a repository of aerospace medicine tutorials, a place where we announce our latest collaborative projects that you can get involved with and somewhere you can come for advice for your budding careers as future Spin Doctors and Rocket Surgeons.

In terms of future plans and projects there are a number of larger things in the works:

  • A collaborative literature-based project establishing risks for a very important upcoming flight
  • A unifying audit to combine some really good work being done by junior doctors and students in the field
  • A mentorship scheme for those pursuing a career in aerospace medicine
  • The next round of the NGAM Student Aerospace Medicine Lecture Competition
  • …and much more.

Drop a comment or get in touch with things you would like to see on this site. If you want to become a contributor and write tutorials (with mentorship if required) or blogs please send an email to NextGenAsM@gmail.com with details of what you want to do and we’ll be in touch.

For now, stay safe and enjoy the blue skies.

Cheers,

JB, NGAM CHAIR
